Music and the Heart

How Music Can Literally Heal the Heart.

Its structural attributes and physiological effects make it an ideal tool for learning cardiology; studying heart-brain interactions; and dispensing neuro-cardiac therapy

And this:

The reason these heart-music mappings work is because abnormal heart rhythms tend to form simple inter-beat-interval ratios. In fact, the distinctive rhythms in Beethoven’s music so closely resemble those of heart rhythm disorders that cardiologists have speculated that they may be transcriptions of Beethoven’s possible arrhythmia, his interoceptive awareness of his own heartbeat enhanced by his deafness.

Lemons >>> make lemonade. Arrhythmia of the heart >>> compose great music.
There is something important hiding in this. Our very shortcomings, our problems, our flaws, can help us reach for something amazing.

    Dear Ottmar,
Thank you for your enlightened thoughts, which are dear companions to me.

My thought is that music is the underlying basis of all there is. It involuntarily beats eternally throughout all nature and humanity. Even in what humans interpret as discord, there is rhythm and harmony beneath. Good vibrations!

    Regarding:
“Lemons >>> make lemonade. Arrhythmia of the heart >>> compose great music. There is something important hiding in this. Our very shortcomings, our problems, our flaws, can help us reach for something amazing.”

Something amazing is going on for me. I think back to your post that spoke of the ferry driver observing it was the river that taught him to run the ferry. Now that I have completely learned my Debussy Arabesque No. 1, I am wondering what I should do next to polish it to greatness. My usual instinct is to seek a coach to explain my next steps. But this habit is a flaw, a shortcoming for me. For the first time, I see it is up to me to dig in and figure this out all by myself. Listen to and feel the “river” – the piano, the chords and melodies, Debussy’s expressions….. .

In the past, I rushed to enroll in seminars and courses, expecting that these people have answers for me. I am still looking for most of those answers. Now I begin a new phase: having filled up with all kinds of information, I must move forward using my own talent!

Wow, Jane! That was absolutely beautifull to feel while I read. You captured the essence of the feelings in words…such a gift.❤✍Thank you for the important reminder about life, and I hope that you include this in your new book…
Ottmar.s wisdom-message was/is so important, powerful beautiful, and timely on the beautiful planet too, for sure! We need more……music is love, life, rhythm, nature, no doubt. It (including His music) is so vital in and for life….it seems to have the power to open some kind of energetic “Heart.Portal” for all, those creating it, those making it literally,, and those listening to it.. ……perhaps some of the first human music we “hear” or feel or both, is from our mother–the passing of rhythm from one to another, everything from tone of voice, heartbeat, and even her blood flowing rhythm……maybe this music opens the “Heart Portal” of/for being human…some kind of a code for the Soul to remember after coming to life?

Please deeply enjoy and appreciate Ottmar/Luna Negra.s music, Live, In.the Flesh, Rhythm and Nature for me too!…….if you are going to one of his upcoming concerts beginning this week! What a gift after (and in the middle of) all of the changes on this beautiful planet.

With much Loving, music, rhythm and nature, I thank you both.

It’s heartwarming (pun intended) to see articles like this where science can be open to the idea of less scientific solutions to health issues. Combining facts with intuition gives a more balanced right/left brain, full view of any situation.
The arts and and the artists who tap into their inner universal connection to make art can be underestimated as mere entertainment. It’s also undervalued in the education system. Like you mentioned, the article is a small window into how music can enhance pretty much any situation. I see music as a lifeline … essential and valuable.
In line with this article about healing through music, I’ve wondered when a surgeon picks music to play during surgery, how does it affect the patient as well as the surgeon performing surgery.
I recently came across an article where music plays a role in math — geometry. It sites how Bach’s compositions incorporated sacred geometry, approaching his music as a puzzle. If interested here is the link: https://aeon.co/essays/look-into-the-secret-world-of-numerology-and-puzzles-in-bach
