Speech Accent Archive
The speech accent archive uniformly presents a large set of speech samples from a variety of language backgrounds. Native and non-native speakers of English read the same paragraph and are carefully transcribed. The archive is used by people who wish to compare and analyze the accents of different English speakers.

    I was surprised at the English accent after so many generations in some people in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It’s mixed with southern of course, and my son has lived there so long he says I have an accent. Yes, that midwest country one. Though when I told someone in Missouri I was from South Dakota they remarked that I sounded like I was from the south. I didn’t say nothin’…
