I am reading “The Clock of the Long Now” by Stewart Brand….a collection of essays on TIME…..excellent book……

One little fact stands out for me tonight:
In 1998 the amount spent in the USA on legal gambling exceeded $700 billion…..that could have paid for a great school system and happy teachers……it also meant that the ‘house’ made about $56 billion in profits – more than the movie and music industry combined!!!
