vision 2020 released

02020-09-21 | HuHeartDrive, Music | 23 comments

I was going to release the album on Wednesday. I liked the date 2020-09-23 as the numbers add up to 9, my favorite number. But why not release the album today?!?! It’s the beginning of a new week. It’s rough out there. This music is upbeat and might make some of you smile… I hope.

Perhaps you can help me… I have to select the one song that is featured on Bandcamp. I first picked Dance 4 Me, then settled on Walking Beside U. Which one gets your vote? Bittersweet?

Ottmar, your new album is the most beautiful thing to come out of this difficult year. Thank you for creating it, and thank you for sharing it. It’s more than uplifting, its downright inspirational. (Not to be overly optimistic ; )

I’m reading your comment above and thinking for about “releases” and wondering if albums/collections of song will move into a more evolutionary-style life cycle.

Rather than releasing an album wholesale, will artists release versions of a song iteratively (in many ways like modern software ‘continuous development/deployment’).

Great art is never finished… it’s only ever abandoned… (I think daVinci said that)…

The visionary in Ottmar talked about this and shared lots of files already about 15 years ago. I am tempted to say it was before the virtual world turned to the dark side. Great times for fans! But inserting temporary links in his website or via DropBox is also nice.

        Hmmmm.

Listening to evolving music is like more interesting to musicians. I’m thinking consumers want a pre-packaged, completed, and sterilized composition. at the same time, performances of compositions eveolve continually.

        Still thinking…

I’ll see how many different mixes and edits I have of the songs. Perhaps I can offer something like that for one or two of the tracks that have had an interesting path of evolution.

Gracias maestro por este nuevo álbum lleno de alegría y buena vibra, yo voto por walking beside u aún que es difícil escoger una sola pista, mis favoritas son: Las Nubes y 2 alone.

Yeah Ottmar! I have to vote for Walking Beside U because it begins with those magnificent chords. I almost chose Master Zhuang’s Butterfly Dream; it starts right in with full throated singing. But Fernweh is still beautifully exciting! Oh, dear…

Thank you for the new music Ottmar! I think I would select Walking Beside U. I also really like Fernweh (maybe because I am longing to be able to travel again) and Bittersweet. Listening to this with a glass of wine was a wonderful way to end the day.

Just listened to v2020 with ear-plugs. I usually don’t because I don’t like to have anything plugged into my ears. But it was quite amazing this time, worthwhile, as if discovering whole new worlds beyond. Great stuff!

I do most of my listening on headphones these days and try to make my mixes so that they create a wide-screen experience. My rhythm guitars have slowly wandered toward the edge of the stage. Years ago they used to be at -60 and +60… now they are usually at 80 or even 90 on each side. (((Zero is center and the edges of the stage are -100 and +100)))

Hm, maybe I should write a post about mixing.

It felt like a concert in your head. When D4M started I took out my right plug because I wondered whether I had not put it in correctly. Then it dawned on me and the music was there when I put it back in. I also heard sounds that I hadn’t realized when listened version via Mac.

I revisited Fete last night because of this and it had the same effect on me.

    Mi ricorda un grande amore
Mi ricorda che sei una grande persona e un grande musicista
Mi ricorda di respirare e sognare e vivere per bene

I have been listening faithfully for almost thirty years. The first time I became acquainted with your music was at a Sam Goody (1991) in NYC while on a lunch break. Walking Beside U takes me back to some of your earlier music as well as some very inspiring moments in my own life. Thank you!
