Guitar Rig is a complete solution for the modern guitarist – on the stage, in the rehearsal space, at home, and in the studio. Guitar Rig combines highly advanced software and a sturdy hardware foot controller: “Rig Kontrol”. The Guitar Rig software offers first-class emulations of classic and modern amplifiers, cabinets, microphones, and effects, letting guitarists easily create any guitar set-up imaginable. The outstanding sound quality, extensive features, and wide ranging flexibility set Guitar Rig apart.
I would like to try one of these a.s.a.p. and hope to use one for my electric guitar on the Fall Tour. One less box to bring on tour, even though my Line 6 Pod Pro is not exactly huge. I am having trouble programming different output volumes into the Pod and currently have to change the volume when I switch from one sound to the next. Probably my fault, but hey - too many knobs!

Here is my feeling about licensing one’s music to TV commercials:

Some people refuse to do let their music be used for commercials. Maybe they are environmentally aware and don’t want to support a car company. Maybe they don’t want to support a fast-food chain. Maybe they feel TV debases their art...

I find that such a stance against a car company means nothing if nobody finds out about your brave stance. In other words, it is fairly meaningless, except for stroking your own pride and ego. Would not more positive change be created by accepting the money, which can be in the 8 figures, and then giving 50% to a good ‘cause? Hell, licence your music to GM for the hated Hummer H2 and give 10 million dollars to the Integral Institute and you will create a lot more change than by telling your agent “over my dead body”!

We are all cynical enough to know that somebody licensing music to a car company or fast-food chain is not necessarily a devil, yes? No, I have no offer on the table, but I was discussing other people’s stances with a friend in the biz a week ago....

Written for a new blog I am writing for the Integral Naked site - not yet published.

We played two shows at the Triple Door (related artist: Gipsy Kings - really?) in Seattle last night. Excellent food was provided by the restaurant upstairs: Wild Ginger. The audience for the second show was a little more lubricated and tried to clap along and one person in particular tried to keep time with a spoon or key against a bottle. I should have a water pistol for these instances, or maybe a Super Soaker.

The club sounds beautiful and we are using their Tascam digital recorder to record these four shows.

Researchers at Dartmouth University have developed an algorithm to automatically detect when a digital photo has been manipulated. Their statistical technique is based on the fact that altering an image messes with the hidden mathematics inside the photo.

"There is little doubt that counter-measures will be developed to foil our detection schemes," says Farid. "Our hope, however, is that as more authentication tools are developed it will become increasingly more difficult to create convincing digital forgeries."

It would be funny if all un-manipulated images were to carry some sort of sign like the "Real Milk" sign? Then maybe we should have a tattoo for "un-enhanced" people as well? And maybe a "Real Music" sign?

I am kidding, you know...
